The Bill
Maureen was cast as Borough Commander Jane Fitzwilliam in top TV drama, The Bill. She made her first appearance
at the end of 2002 but could not continue in the roll of Borough Commander due to a very long season at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon in the summer of 2003.
When I met Maureen, I asked her if she would like to reprise her role as Jane Fitzwilliam and she said she would love to if she was asked
as she had a great time filming.
Maureen's debut in The Bill as a police officer was first
aired on 31st December 2002. This page details the storylines which featured Maureen as the Borough Commander.
1,
Commander Jane Fitzwilliam met with the Superintendant of Sunhill Adam Okaro at the local community centre
after masked men fired live rounds at senior police officers.
2,
Adam Okaro was in big trouble for his outspoken views on drug policies. Jane Fitzwilliam had to explain about Okaro's outburst to the Commisioner at Scotland Yard. She also declined Okaro's resignation.
3,
An unbalanced Cathy Bradford made an anonymous call to Scotland Yard, outlining Okaro's order for Sunhill to go
easy on drug dealers and suppliers. She tells Jane that she doesn't agree with Okaros radical policies and drops him in it! So to speak!
4,
Jane Fitzwilliam has cause yet again to visit Sunhill to obtain an explanation for Superintendant Okaro's outspoken views, but this time he will have to obey the Borough Commander.
5,
The press scrambled to get an interview with Superintendant Okaro as he was about to make another public speech, this time under the watchful eye of his Chief Superintendant.
6,
After the shooting in the community centre, Commander Fitzwilliam receives a call from the Commissioner. She is not at all pleased with how Superintendant Okaro has dealt with the situation. Mostly due to his lack of information about Mortis and their empolyees.
