The National Theatre SE1 Debt: Unsecured by Gregory Burke With Maureen Beattie as The Debt Counsellor Directed by Lucy Pitman-Wallace Discussion: Rt Hon John McFall MP, Chair of the Treasury Select Committee Eric Leenders Policy Director on Retail Credit, British Bankers’ Association Chaired by: Genista McIntosh, Baroness of Hudnall Debt: the condition of owing National Headlines is a series of five new monologues taken directly from interviews with people about current stories hitting the headlines. Each short piece is accompanied by a discussion about the important issues raised. As the project develops, the National’s website will include updates on the themes and writers involved. National Headlines is co-ordinated by Paul Jepson, whose reportage play Life After Life was seen at the National in 2002. Writers: Moira Buffini Gregory Burke Tanika Gupta Paul Jepson Mark Ravenhill Gregory Burke’s first play, Gagarin Way, was seen at the National in 2002 after its Edinburgh premiere. The Straits opened at the Traverse in 2003 and subsequently at the Hampstead Theatre.
